About this site

This site is intended to correct some of the misinformation surrounding the careers of Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale, two women whose involvement in public life overlapped in their work with soldiers during the Crimean War.

We believe that Mary Seacole should be celebrated for her own accomplishments, and honouring her should not entail disparaging the reputation of another person.
